Supplies needed:
Baby onesies
Fabric Scraps
Heat n Bond Ultrahold (NO-SEW)
Various templates-the sky's the limit with these. Just google a shape you want. Print and cut out.
Iron
Love this stuff!
Trace your template onto the smooth side of the heat n bond then iron onto the wrong side of your fabric. Cut out your fabric shape. Peel off heat n bond paper then place on onesie where you want it and iron on. That's it! You can also add embellishments like buttons or ribbon. So fun! I can't wait to make some baby girl onesies!
Very cute! Liz

ReplyDeleteI found you via Pinterest! These are sooo cute! Plus, they totally look easy to make - Bonus!! One question though, do the shapes ever unravel along the edges when you use the Heat Bond? Even after lots of washes? Just wondering how they hold up long-term! Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteLori
Glad you found my blog! Yes, over time the edges will fray a bit. You could sew around the edges if you want to avoid that from happening. Thanks for stopping by!!
Deletethese are so sweet! I always sew mine on after sticking, I just don't trust the glue!
ReplyDeleteI love making appliques and those are ADORABLE! I would love for you to share this (and any other creations) at Pin It and Win It Wednesday @ www.cheapcraftymama.com!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't the cut up fabric fray?? This looks so fun!!
ReplyDeleteThese are so adorable!! I've been making the tie type for my grandson, but I've never tried other shapes...the alligator is toooo cute!!! Thank you for the inspiration!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic! Your fabric choices are amazing. The kids are still sleeping. I think I have to go make my little man some cuter onesies, right now! :)

These are unbelievably cute! Where did you source your templates from?
ReplyDeleteThanks! Just googled fabric applique templates and used ones that I liked!

I love these, they're adorable!! I picked up some heat n bond the other day for a different project... I know what I'll be using the left-overs for :) Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteSo adorable! Thanks for sharing these!
ReplyDeleteLOve, love...love these!!! So cute!! New follower of your blog. Come visit us at shabbygals.blogspot.com too!! Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteOhhh, I'm so excited...I enjoy doing applique, but not so much on small pieces, and not so much on stretchy material. I've wanted to do some T-Shirts and Onesies for my baby boy, but putting it off.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm thrilled because -- even though I've been sewing (and appliqueing) for years -- I HAD NO IDEA THAT THERE WAS A NO-SEW UTLRAHOLD HEAT 'N BOND!!!
How in the world have I missed this? Lol. This changes my world, I can't wait to try it! Though a little part inside of me is still wondering if it really works, lol.
These are so stinken cute and of course I love that they don't require any sewin skills!
ReplyDeleteSoooo cute and easy! Thanks for sharing your creative idea. Mucho credit to you!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think it can really suit well using any kind of fabric but cotton is still the best option when you're talking about a onesie because the comfort is just different from any kind of fabric. Thanks for the share! I love your input in this.
ReplyDeleteJust made an elephant. Super easy. Love this idea, so cute ! Thank you !!
ReplyDeleteVery cute and easy to follow instructions. Thanks. Pinned.
ReplyDeleteHow do they look after washing? Love this!
ReplyDeleteDid you end up making girl ones? Do you have a picture?
ReplyDeleteI haven't yet but will be soon as I have a good friend having a baby girl! I'll post when I'm finished with them!
DeleteI did a bunch of these and washed them and well preg hormones got the best f m and I bawled when a ton of them came right off in the wash after hours of work :(
ReplyDeleteOh, so sorry that happened. I've never had that happen before. Did you use the red package of Heat N Bond?
DeleteI love these!!! But I am curious how they hold up in the wash...do the edges shrivel up or do they hold up well?
ReplyDeleteFor the most part they hold up well but I have had a few that the edges curled up. I would recommend sewing around the edges if you don't want this to happen.
DeleteI can tell it would take me hours to find these shapes. Can you link them? They're so cute!
ReplyDeletewould you please share how you attached the buttons/embelishments? According to the Heat and Bond, it says do not sew on it? Help, please!
ReplyDeleteHow do you keep your fabric from fraying?
ReplyDeleteHeat n bond should keep it from fraying.
ReplyDeleteI tried using the ultra hold heat n bond on a onesie today...my first time...and the corners do not stay adhered. followed the directions exactly. Please help. I tried to sew them down, but it was too thick.

ReplyDeleteI love how you used the buttons to create an eye for these animals! I got an idea how to be creative with the onesies. I love the dress fabrics that were used in these onesies.
