Stenciled Fabric Cork Board

After stenciling some art for the baby's room I was itching to stencil something else. I had one of those plain cork boards that you have lying around and some white fabric and decided to try stenciling the fabric. It was a bit challenging to get the spacing right but I love how it turned out.

Supplies needed for this project:

cork board (any size)
plain fabric
stencil of choice
paint- I used Martha Stewart Acrylic Satin- Green Olive
small paint roller- I used the foam roller from Martha Stewart
foam pouncer
thumb tacks- I used about 200
adhesive spray
glue gun

After stenciling the fabric, I used some adhesive spray on the cork board to keep the fabric in place while I placed the thumb tacks in.

Start placing the thumb tacks in. WARNING: This does take a while and your thumbs might get sore. (I had to take little breaks while doing this)

After all the tacks are in place, flip the board over and hot glue the edges down.

I love the pop of color it gives to this plain wall in my office.

  2. I can't believe that you stenciled that fabric! What a steady hand. It looks like printed fabric! It is so cute! I love how you stretched the cloth over the frame. I never would have thought to do it, but it looks awesome! Good job!!

  11. I hope you don't mind me saying this...YOU ARE A GENIUS!! This is literally the best project I have seen online in awhile! Ok...maybe I am a LITTLE bit biased....it is just my style and I have all the supplies sitting in my house already...minus the tacks. Thanks for the AMAZING idea! Seriously, this is on my list of things to do immediately!!

  12. I never even occurred to me that I could just cover my ugly corkboard with fabric. I'm going to skip the stenciling--just so I get it done!--and put some pretty fabric up there with pins.

    Thanks!!

  18. I have never done anything like this, but I am sooo tempted for my daughters new house's kitchen...black on white and a brilliant blue row down a short side. Just to time the board to the kitchen. Gotta find the "silver thumb tacks too! I know she would love it!!! It thanks!

  19. I love this! I wish I had seen this before I made a cork board project last week myself. I did something a little different but just LOVE the stencil you used with your fabric and your choice of color was great too. I am surely going to have to make something similar to go in my kitchen or maybe in the kids' rooms. what a nice project!
